Hawaii 2006

7 June - 14 June

These are the pictures I took during my Summer 2006 vacation back to the Hawaiian Islands. The most important event of the trip was the Punahou Alumni Luau, an annual tradition that goes back well before my time. As a member of the 24th year reunion class, I assisted in the preparations and operations for the luau, including decorations, food prep, food service, and beer & wine booth clean up. The week home also gave me the opportunity to catch up with old friends and visit the house where I grew up.

These pictures were taken with a Canon Rebel XT 350D, using Canon 10-22mm f3.5-4.5 EF-S, 60mm f2.8 EF-S, 28-105mm f3.5-4.5 EF, and 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS EF lenses. Unfortunately, this fine equipment was not able to compentsate for my poor photographic skills. It is truly fortunate that I don't have to make my living as a photographer.

I apologize if the text at the top and on the right side below is garbled. I'm experimenting with authoring XHTML CSS2, and some older browsers seem to have problems rendering it correctly. In particular, Microsoft's Intarnet Explorer apears to have some severe defects in this regard. My test browser is Mozilla Firefox 1.5, which seems reasonably standards compliant.
