FedEx Shipping Damage, 10 Jan 2003

This package was received from FedEx on Fri, 10 Jan 2003, in heavily damaged condition. The tracking number of the item is: 1719480 00000071
Update: FedEx paid 100% of my cost for this Fluke 6080A/AN signal generator, $720 (it's worth more). It involved dragging the whole 70 lb system, box and plethora of styrofoam peanuts down to an inspector/examiner. The key to the process was to get him to actually note the printed ratings on the box that showed it was more than sufficient to protect the contents under normal circumstances. He had already filled in a lower, "more common" value that I can only assume would have resulted in my claim being denied due to insufficient packing. I guess that the FedEx business model finds that it is cheaper to damage the crap out customer's packages and try to avoid paying them, than it is to hire humans to handle the packages.

And this package was received from FedEx on 14 Jan 2003, again by the invisible FedEx delivery guy. Between the time the door bell rings and the time I open door, the guy is back in the truck, revving away like Speed Racer!
